Hewlett-Packard has released a range of inkjet printers aimed at offering users a versatile, high-performance machine capable of meeting a wide range of printing demands.
Bruno Persic, consumer imaging and printing category manager at HP SA, says the high-end HP Deskjet 5550 colour inkjet printer brings a wide range of innovative and easy to use features to the market.
"With up to 4800 x 1200 optimised dpi in colour printing or optional HP Photoret IV precision technology, the HP Deskjet 5550 is the first HP Deskjet printer capable of reproducing high-quality photographic prints," he says.
It also offers optional six-ink colour printing for exceptional photo quality and borderless 10 x 15 cm (4 x 6-inch) photo printing.
"The printer`s improved performance is also demonstrated in its print speed," says Persic. The HP Deskjet 5550 is now capable of printing laser-quality black text at up to 17 pages per minute and brilliant colour photos at up to 12 pages per minute on most paper types and sizes.
Additional features include a print screen and energy saving options, an ink backup mode, paper-type sensor and automatic pen alignment for optimum print results. The industrial design of the product has also taken a giant leap forward when comparing with previous models.
The printer also offers consumers optional wireless printing accessories, which will give consumers the choice and flexibility of printing from anywhere in the home by avoiding the tangle of cables.
The two other printers on offer, the HP Deskjet 3820 and HP Deskjet 3420, deliver easy to use, high-speed, quality printing with enhanced functionality.
Capable of producing affordable photo-quality prints with up to 4800-optimised dpi, the HP Deskjet 3820 prints crisp black text at up to 12 pages per minute and stunning photo quality at up to 10 pages per minute.
"The HP Deskjet 3420 colour inkjet printer is aimed at families and personal users looking for a printer for fast, easy printing and everyday use," he says.
The photo quality resolution of the printer is up to 2400 x 1200 dpi on premium photo papers and has the capability of printing up to 10 pages per minute in black text and 8 pages per minute in colour.
Its compact design also makes the printer easy to set up and features a 100-sheet fold-up paper tray to save space.
According to HP`s local offices the HP Deskjet 5550 is available for an estimated recommended price of R2 199, with the HP Deskjet 3820 and the Deskjet 3420 are available at a recommended street price of R1 499 and R1 199 respectively (actual prices may vary).
Supplies that complete HP`s printing system
The components of the HP printing systems - printers, cartridges, inks and papers - are designed together to deliver outstanding results. HP introduces a new range of photo papers and inkjet print cartridges that are designed for use with the new HP Deskjet and HP Photosmart printers, HP Deskjet 5550, HP Photosmart 7150 and 7350. HP`s new HP Premium Plus Photo Paper achieves outstanding results when used with the new inkjet printers. It offers exceptional fade resistance, excellent image quality, and life-like skin tones.
When used with the new HP No 58 Photo Inkjet Print Cartridge and the HP No 57 Tri-colour Inkjet Print Cartridge, images on HP Premium Plus Photo Paper resist fading for generations - even longer than most traditionally processed photographs. The HP No 58 Photo Inkjet Print Cartridge can easily be swapped with the new HP No 56 Black Inkjet Print Cartridge in order to print crisp, laser-quality graphics and texts. A print cartridge protector allows storage of the cartridge not in use.
