"Corporations understand the value of colour and want solutions that give great-looking colour right out of the box," said Steve Midgley, HP marketing manager, printers and peripherals. "The HP LaserJet 4500 and LaserJet 8500 printers enable users to produce brilliant colour documents quickly, easily and cost effectively."
Color LaserJet 4500 Printer - Affordable Workgroup Colour Laser Printer
The HP Color LaserJet 4500 printer gives corporate workgroups everything they need to begin producing great-looking colour documents immediately while providing industry-leading cost of ownership. It enables users to incorporate colour into presentations, fliers, sales materials, reports and a variety of other documents easily and effectively.
The Color LaserJet 4500 printer incorporates the following advanced HP LaserJet technologies:
- Image Ret 2400 - delivers 2,400 dots per inch colour laser-class quality, varies amounts of the four different toner colours - cyan, magenta, yellow and black - placed on a single dot to provide photo-like images, bold graphics and sharp output;
- Color Smart II - automatically achieves optimal colour output by intelligently using halftone and colour settings to provide the best print-quality colour matching for each object on the page. It uses Standard RGB (sRGB) as its default colour space for accurate definition and communication of colour.
- Automatic colour calibration - the printer monitors and adjusts its key printing components to ensure that the quality of its colour output will remain consistent over time.
The LaserJet 4500 printer uses a 133MHz processor, custom ASICs, dual path compression and HP`s EIO interface for fast image processing. It has an engine speed of 4 pages per minute (ppm) colour and 16 ppm monochrome.
The Color LaserJet 4500 printer incorporates the following technologies:
- Auto-duplexer - makes duplexing faster, more convenient and more reliable than manually duplexing pages;
- High-capacity and long-life consumables - easy to install, reduce replacement times and lower cost-per-page to about 1.5 cents for monochrome and about 8 cents for colour. Unlike most colour laser printers, the cost of printing in monochrome is comparable to that of a midrange monochrome-only printer;
- HP JetAdmin - peripheral-management software allows network managers to diagnose and resolve printer problems remotely and quickly.
- HP JetSend technology - enables network devices to communicate with each other and exchange information without having to go through a PC or server and without user intervention. The Color LaserJet 4500 printer is the first colour, JetSend technology-enabled receiving device.
Color LaserJet 8500 Printer - Flexible, Versatile Department Laser Printer
The Color LaserJet 8500 printer gives users in corporate departments the flexibility to produce a wide range of colour documents easily. It is designed for corporate users who value colour as a communication tool and need the professional-level capabilities and versatility of a departmental printer.
Great colour out of the box from a departmental colour printer means having the functionality to create documents previously outsourced to commercial services. Newsletters, brochures, and posters now can be created internally, allowing organisations to avoid the high cost of outsourcing and giving them more control of their colour-printing jobs.
The Color LaserJet 8500 printer is a 6 ppm color/24 ppm monochrome printer and has the same print quality and speed enhancements of the Color LaserJet 4500 printer. The 133MHz processor, 64 bit data path, advanced compression technology, Format-Once & RIP-Once technology and EIO interface allow it to handle the demands of departmental colour printing.
The Color LaserJet 8500 printer has the flexibility to handle a wide variety of printing jobs, with automatic duplexing; A4 and A3 printing; and the ability to print on different types of media, from heavy stock to glossy paper. Like the Color LaserJet 4500 printer, it features Image Ret 2400, the ColorSmart II system using sRGB and automatic colour calibration for great colour out of the box.
The Color LaserJet 8500 printer gives users the lowest cost per page of any colour laser printer while HP JetAdmin and Web JetAdmin peripheral-management software streamline printer management, saving the network administrator`s time.
To ensure the timely delivery of the HP Color LaserJet 8500 printer and to provide end users with an effective colour solution, HP has opted to ship initial units without PCL. Though within six months of introduction all HP Color LaserJet 8500 printers will have PCL. HP will provide a free, easy upgrade path for PCL for all customers that request it.
