HP leaks product line-up

CES 2010 doesn't kick off until mid-week, but some of HP's new products have seemingly leaked ahead of time, reports SlashGear.

Several desktops, notebooks and netbooks have been prematurely unveiled, complete with partial specifications and pricing, including a Pine Trail netbook, the HP Mini 210 HD edition, and a 14-inch ultraportable, the HP Pavilion dv4i.

As for the desktops, Intel's Core i5 and i7 processors make appearances in multiple HP Pavilion Elite HPE machines.

Intel's big plans for 2010

Big things are ahead for Intel in 2010, and the channel will play a key role in that, says David Allen, Intel director of sales for North America, according to eChannelLine.

"The channel leads in our technology transitions," said Allen, "It was the fastest on the 45 nanometer ramp. It was the same with quad core, our channel was the fastest to adopt that, and then this year the movement to core i7. It had a record setting ramp."

Allen added that 2009 was a year of innovations from Intel, with the Xeon 5500 heading the list. Changes to the Core Processor family were another big innovation, Allen said. Consolidating the Core Processor family reduced confusion. And in 2010 it will be all about Core for notebooks and desktops.

Shipment growth for notebook brands

Taiwan-based notebook brands are expected to see further shipment growth in 2010 with a chance to advance their rankings, according to sources from notebook players, says DigiTimes.

HP and Acer are both estimated to ship more than 40 million notebooks in 2010, with Acer having a chance to surpass HP and become the largest vendor worldwide, the sources noted. HP is estimated to ship 44 million notebooks in 2010.

Dell will ship close to 25 million notebooks in 2010, ranking the third largest globally, benefiting mainly from a of the business notebook market.
