IT distributor Comztek has appointed Michael Kruger as channel manager, to drive the management and promotion of HP Networking services and products in SA, according to the distributor.

This follows Comztek's recent move to secure the rights for HP Networking for the Southern African and East African regions.

In his new role at Comztek, Kruger says he plans to bring HP experience and skills to the Comztek team, complemented with his technical and sales background.

Kruger explains that HP's acquisition of 3Com, Tipping Point and H3C to create HP Networking, has bolstered Comztek to be the biggest distributor of 3Com or HP Networking products and services.

He points out that he will drive Comztek's growth strategy into Africa through HP Networking products.

“I think there are a lot of opportunities for Comztek in the African enterprise sector. We will be targeting new for the rest of the year. We received some strong partnerships following the 3Com acquisition by HP, and we plan to retain those partnerships and build upon them.”

Kruger adds: “My strategy is to uphold the high levels of service we give to our partners within all levels, and to share knowledge through shared information with our partners. We've also increased the headcount and training within Comztek to focus on HP Networking.”

Kruger completed a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineering course in 2001. He then moved from Port Elizabeth to Johannesburg, where he joined Bromide Technologies as an IT technician.

Comztek has also appointed Colleen du Toit, who will be responsible for the management and promotion of Netshield and Eaton's services and products.

Du Toit has a project management diploma. She started her career in the IT industry with Datanet in 1997 and worked her way up to manage the company's top 10 accounts.

She later joined 3M SA, heading up the communications and networking division nationally for two years.
