HP tablet release set for 2011
HP is all set to unveil two tablet computers in the months to follow, LA News Monitor notes.
One of the tablets will run on webOS, the operating system which is currently found on the Palm line of smartphones.
The other HP tablet device, aimed at enterprise users, will run on windows 7. According to HP, the new HP webOS tablet will be available in the markets next year onwards.
Indian PC penetration doubles
PC penetration in urban India has doubled in the past three years, from 19% to 38% across section A, B and C, Silicon India writes.
This study also reveals PC desirability is on the upswing across the sections with the desirability having increased by over 100% in section C.
The study was conducted across 82 cities sampling over 19 000 households.
Oracle rolls out virtualisation scheme
Oracle has unveiled its desktop-to-server virtualisation strategy, which it has positioned as a more rounded suite compared with the market leading VMware, says Computer Weekly.
The company aims to expand the use of virtualisation to support mission-critical applications and provide IT departments with a way to offer the business IT-as-a-service.
Edward Screven, chief corporate architect at Oracle, said: "The number one reason why people use virtualisation is for server consolidation”.
