HP unveils BI services
HP has introduced a number of business intelligence (BI) services it said would help firms improve corporate governance and reduce operating costs, reports vnunet.
The three new offerings run from data management tools to information governance services.
HP said that taken together, they would give firms an integrated view of information across the organisation, letting them make much more informed business decisions.
SAP integrates BI with ERP offering
SAP is planning to infuse its Business All-in-One enterprise resource planning product for mid-sized companies with preconfigured BI software from its Business Objects division, it said at the Cebit conference in Hannover, Germany, writes PC World.
Users will be able to conduct ad-hoc queries and analysis of their business data, viewing information through pre-built dashboards and reports, SAP said.
The new capabilities will be available later this year in Brazil, Germany and the US. Other countries will be added later, according to SAP.
Wabit debuts visual query interface
Toronto-based BI consulting company SQL Power Group wanted a BI interface easy enough for end-users, but one that didn't leave experienced SQL users frustrated with its lack of power, says itWorldCanada.
The company has released Wabit, a drag-and-drop visual query builder that automates joins and report generation.
“You can do almost everything you can do in SQL with the visual query,” says Jonathan Fuerth, manager of software development for SQL Power Group.
