HP updates services, products
Hewlett-Packard (HP) this week unleashed a barrage of products aimed at delivering affordable and simple computing experiences to the desktop, reports ZDNet.
These include thin-client and desktop virtualisation solutions, as well as a multi-seat offering that can double computing seats. At the same time, the company targeted the need for data security with a backup and recovery system for road warriors.
The thin-client offerings include the HP t5740 and HP t5745 Flexible Series, which feature Intel Atom N280 processors and an Intel GL40 chipset. They also provide eight USB 2.0 ports and an optional PCI expansion module for easy upgrades.
Zeus offers app management
Zeus Technology's application traffic management software can now run on Amazon's Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) cloud computing service, offering solution providers and their customers a less expensive pay-by-the-hour option, states CRN.
Zeus, which sells its software exclusively through the channel, said the move would make it easier for solution providers and their customers to develop and manage cloud applications.
Owen Garrett, product manager at Zeus, says running Zeus Traffic Manager 6.0 on EC2 offers customers more flexibility than that provided by competing hardware-software application traffic management products from F5 Networks, Citrix Systems and Cisco Systems.
Netapp, Fujitsu integrate storage products
NetApp has extended its partnership with Japanese storage provider Fujitsu, says DataCentre Dynamics.
As elements of the new agreement, the two companies will work toward tighter integration of some of their products, create a joint go-to-market strategy and develop and offer a joint portfolio of consulting, managed storage, maintenance and professional services.
Tokyo-based Fujitsu's resource management framework will be integrated with NetApp's storage management software. Additionally, NetApp's V-series open storage controllers will be fully integrated with Fujitsu's Eternus DX400 storage system.
