Huawei launches transport “bandwidth cloud” solution in SA

Huawei Technologies ("Huawei"), a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, has recently released and demonstrated its industry-leading transport “bandwidth cloud” solution with the next generation, which will allow while South Africa's telecommunication operators to develop new cutting-edge services such as faster Internet access, video services, high definition television cost-effectively.

A recent showcase also demonstrated real life scenarios with mobile broadband network, including high definition video streaming, mobile gaming, high speed file transfer and videoconferencing.

The “bandwidth cloud” is an innovative optical networking solution with the synergistic integration of huge-capacity transmission (3.2T), full-service optical switching and optical-layer and electrical-layer converged ASON control, enabling operators to achieve greater flexibility, higher availability and optimised wavelength utilisation to meet increasing bandwidth requirements. With this technology breakthrough, the Internet output can increase by up to four times than the current speed.

With full-service capability, including VC-x (Virtual Container), ODUk (Optical Data Unit), future-oriented packet services and cross-connection, the solution is designed to free backbone networks and provide effective high bandwidth transport to support operators in the delivery of mixed broadband services and realisation of service grooming goals. Its optical-layer and electrical-layer ASON significantly increase reliability in transporting services across different granularities and contribute to the reduction of operating expenditure. In addition, the solution is future-proof, and is capable of 40G and 100G transmissions.
