Human rights network adopts Joomla CMS
The Indigenous Australia (IHRNA) says it's decided to use the open source Joomla content management system (CMS) for its Web site, states Computerworld.
The network will provide a resource for advocates of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander human rights. It provides information on making complaints, funding, news, events to create a social portal for users to connect with other advocates and share information.
The initiative is funded by Oxfam Australia and hosted by the Australian Human Rights Commission.
Collabora joins Linux Foundation
Collabora has partnered with The Linux Foundation and will participate in the MeeGo project, writes MarketWire.
Collabora has a previously contributed to projects on platforms that include GNOME, KDE, Moblin and Maemo.
"The Linux Foundation provides a home for important projects such as the MeeGo platform," says Philippe Kalaf, director and co-founder of Collabora. "We're excited to join the Linux Foundation so that we can participate directly in upstream development of the MeeGo platform."
ImageWare unveils biometrics initiative
ImageWare says it has created the Open Biometrics Initiative for the advancement of biometrics technologies in the open source community, says MarketWatch.
The first library to be released into the Open Biometrics Initiative is OpenEBTS, an application programming interface for the management of Electronic Biometric Transmission Specification (EBTS) data.
"Companies such as Microsoft, Oracle and IBM have been active in promoting the open source community," says Jim Miller, ImageWare chairman and CEO.
