Hypercom brings self-service ticketing
Hypercom says three of the major regional rail transit operators in Germany are now using its Artema Modular, says Trading Markets.
These are unattended payment terminals with GPRS to speed ticketing in more than 370 trains serving over 200 million commuters and other travellers per year.
The PCI-approved devices accept both debit and credit cards. The installation was recently completed at key transit hubs served by Abellio, Rheinbahn and Westfalen Bahn-operated trains.
Consumers prefer self-service
Some 85% of global consumers are more likely to do business with companies that provide multi-channel self-service, via a mobile device or at self-service kiosks, according to the latest global survey of consumer attitudes commissioned by NCR from BuzzBack Market Research, reports Retail Solutions Online.
The survey reveals how self-service is playing a key role in providing consumers around the world with more flexibility and choice as they change their purchase decisions and behaviour in order to beat recessionary pressures.
When shopping, banking, travelling or visiting their doctor, American respondents are looking to use multi-channel self-service to better manage their cash flow and time, seek greater value and improve speed and convenience.
