Following Intel`s release of its Pentium 4 processor, IBM will bring its Pentium 4 NetVista A60 and IntelliStation M Pro to market in January.
The IBM NetVista A60 comes in 1.4GHz or 1.5GHz flavours, and sports 128MB RDRAM (up to a maximum of 2GB), a 15GB or 45GB hard drive, CD-ROM drive and integrated 10/100 Ethernet. Users can choose between the nVidia GeForce GTS 4X AGP graphics card or the TNT2 card.
Software includes Windows 2000 or Windows NT, Lotus SmartSuite Millennium Edition, and the IBM Software Select CD. It features seven slots and six bays.
The NetVista A60 costs R16 290 for the 1.4GHz processor with 15GB hard drive. The 1.5GHz version with 45GB hard drive costs R19 248.
The new IntelliStation M Pro debuts with the Intel Pentium 4 1.5GHz chip. The IntelliStation M Pro is a workstation for professionals involved in digital content creation, multimedia development, animation, video editing, mechanical engineering and 3D design. Supported by the new Intel 850 chipset, the machine offers up to 2GB ECC Rambus memory with a 400MHz front-side bus.
Designed for tool-free expansion, the IntelliStation M Pro chassis accommodates six adapters (five PCI slots, one 4X AGP Pro 50) and seven storage devices (four bays open), fed by 340W power supply and cooled by up to four fans. The minitower can be reoriented as a desktop that supports the weight of a 21-inch monitor, or can be rack-mounted with an optional kit.
Data storage has been reinforced with a choice of ATA/100 EIDE or Ultra 160 SCSI hard disk drives, with capacities up to 30GB and 36GB, respectively. For faster data throughput, a 15 000rpm Ultra 160 SCSI 18.2GB drive can be added. The IntelliStation M Pro 6849 comes preloaded with Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional, with the user option to install Windows NT 4.0.
IBM IntelliStation M Pro workstations provide owners with a three-year, on-site limited parts and labour warranty. This is augmented by the IntelliStation "Ask Engineering" rapid response team.
The IntelliStation M Pro starts at R22 290. These prices exclude VAT.
