IBM converges the network
IBM is integrating QLogic's new single chip 8100 Series converged network adapters fibre channel over Ethernet (FCOE) connectivity in IBM's mainstream server portfolio, reports GlobeNewswire.
IBM will offer native FCOE connectivity on all IBM rack and tower series servers, including the new Intel Xeon 5500 Nehalem-powered BladeCenter and System x offerings.
Bob Laliberte, analyst from Enterprise Strategy Group, says: "As the FCOE market develops, securing key vendor design wins and go-to-market channels will be critical to establishing market leadership and accelerating adoption of FCOE technology."
Partnership boosts open media
Tetco-Voxpilot, a software vendor of video-voice-data solutions, has signed an exclusive partnership with Artificial Solutions for its open media platform, says PR Inside.
The licensing contract allows Artificial Solutions to base its automated customer service on the Tetco-Voxpilot Open Media Platform for voice and video solutions.
Customer service optimisation offers a combination of digital and analogue services through channels including chat, e-mail and phone and can be either fully automated, semi-automated or manual.
Netronome drives unified computing
Netronome, a developer of semiconductor products for virtualised servers and network equipment, has unveiled the NFP-32xx family of network flow processors, states Business Wire.
The NFP-32xx is the industry's first processor to remove the barriers in unified computing architectures by combining the NFP's high-performance network, content and security processing with general purpose processors.
Bob Wheeler, senior analyst at The Linley Group, says: “A programmable dataplane, with hardware-based I/O virtualisation and integrated security goes beyond what L2-L3 NPUs, security processors and embedded communication processors individually offer to meet the requirements of next-generation switches, routers, wireless infrastructure, appliances and servers.”
