IBM debuts retail BI package
IBM is beefing up its retail industry BI software line, using the National Retail Federation convention in New York to launch the IBM Retail Performance Analytics (RPA) system, reports CRN.
RPA incorporates retail-industry-specific data warehousing technology previously offered by IBM, combined with new front-end analysis software from IBM's Cognos operation.
IBM also said it is unveiling a dedicated retail performance analytics practice within IBM Global Business Services.
Clarity introduces Innovation Lane
Clarity Consulting introduced Innovation Lane, a point-of-sale technology concept system that features Windows Embedded POSReady 2009 and unified communications technologies, says TMCnet.
Innovation Lane will be on display at the National Retail Federation's annual expo taking place in New York.
The system shows how retailers can increase efficiency and store management by saving 10 seconds off each transaction, helping to save millions of dollars annually and improving customer experience.
Royal Air Maroc appoints ORS
Royal Air Maroc has appointed Onboard Retail Solutions (ORS, formerly Clue Trader) to provide in-flight retail technology for its fleet of 44 aircraft, states DFNI online.
Royal Air Maroc said in a statement it required a system that enabled the company to improve cost control while boosting in-flight duty-free sales.
The agreement also includes the installation of the ORS system for food and beverage sales on board the carrier's low-cost subsidiary Atlas Blue.
