IBM has announced the availability of its Informix Dynamic Server (IDS) version 10, aimed at delivering higher data handling speeds and greater security. "IDS v10 is the most significant upgrade to the Informix platform since 1999," claims Simon Jeggo, data management products manager at IBM South Africa.
Jeggo emphasises IBM is committed to supporting Informix and will continue to enhance and maintain the Informix range of products in line with customers requirements.
"The v10 has been designed to handle large volumes of data a high speeds and features new automated capabilities to enable companies that need their data and transaction resources to be available 24x7 to tune their databases and manage index issues online, without interrupting service," says Jeggo.
Other enhancements include data encryption. "This new feature will enable users to comply with new regulations such as South Africa`s Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA), explains Jeggo.
