In recognition of the company`s increasing skills base, market share and business activity around the IBM platform, Faritec - a JSE-listed, black empowered, IT services and solutions company - garnered seven accolades at IBM`s local business partner awards ceremony, recently held in Johannesburg.
The company, which has built its IBM business partnership up over the past 10 years and received many awards in the past, was recognised this year as the:
* Top South African business partner
* Top South African cross-brand partner
* Top Software partner
* Top WebSphere partner
* Top Storage partner
* Top pSeries partner
* Top Lenovo partner in the Western Cape region
The awards were presented to those IBM South Africa partners that have shown significant progress in delivering solutions and services based on IBM`s product portfolio. They also recognised partners that have made inroads into new markets and developed new business opportunities.
The recognition comes on the heels of a strong financial half-year for Faritec and the recent acquisition of Enterprise Connection. The company`s IBM business performed well, evidenced by the infrastructure division growing by 41% and the software business growing by almost 90% (compared to the same period last year).
"We believe that several factors ensure we stand out in terms of IBM`s local business partners," says Allan Timm, executive director of Faritec.
"We have a clear dedication to both the brand and the solutions that IBM offers locally. Coupled with this is our in-depth market knowledge, our diverse skills base and our understanding of the corporate enterprise and SME solutions space. The combination of these factors means that Faritec has a clear ability to deliver IBM-based solutions that meet customers` specific needs."
Faritec supports the IBM pSeries Unix platform, xSeries servers, IBM storage and the WebSphere software suite. The company has a large certified IBM skills base and is able to architect, configure, deploy and provide post-sales and service support around these products.
Stelio Frasco, the channel executive at IBM, says IBM has stringent criteria by which it evaluates its business partners and rewards them. "We look for the strength of commitment to our business, performance against targets and levels of customer satisfaction, among other things. Needless to say, Faritec fulfilled these criteria and as a result garnered several valuable awards."
