IBM, Panasonic sign cloud deal
IBM says Panasonic has agreed to use its cloud-based LotusLive e-mail system for worldwide operations. The deal initially covers 100 000 Panasonic employees, and will eventually expand to include more than 300 000 workers, partners and suppliers, reports InformationWeek.
LotusLive is a hosted suite of online collaboration solutions that includes modules for e-mail, conferencing, chat, file sharing, and other types of business communications. IBM introduced the suite a year ago, and reports more than 18 million users.
"Panasonic would only make this strategic move with the assurance that their daily business workflow will be safeguarded from costly interruptions and intrusions as millions of existing LotusLive users know," says Sean Poulley, VP for IBM Cloud Collaboration.
3Tera intros cloud certification programmes
3Tera has revealed two educational and certification programmes to arm solution providers, ISVs and customers with the training and skills needed to prove they are cloud experts, says ChannelWeb.
"If you don't do it, in two years you won't have a business," says Mark Ortenzi, president of 3Tera partner CariNet, about making the leap into the cloud. CariNet's traditional business is in dedicated servers, but just recently it built out its cloud offerings built on 3Tera's AppLogic platform.
The Certified Cloud Operator programme targets service providers, enterprises, operations professionals and system integrators who deploy and operate cloud services. It covers installing, configuring and maintaining the computing fabric used for building cloud computing services.
