Sharp releases 100GB Blu-ray discs
Sharp has started selling the first Blu-ray discs with 100GB capacity in Japan, states PC World.
However, the new BDXL format will not work on traditional Blu-ray drives available today, so users will need to purchase new drives.
The Blue-ray Disc Association argues that higher-capacity media isn't needed for movies as 50GB is enough even for 3D high-definition movies based on the Blu-ray 3D format.
UK court slams DS storage devices
Nintendo has hit back at retailer Playables for selling third-party flash storage backup devices for use with the DS line of handheld platforms, says Neoseeker.
UK retailer Playables was taken to court for selling R4 backup devices. These devices fit into DS game card slots and can run pirated DS games.
In its verdict against Playables, the High Court in London ruled that game copiers are indeed illegal and that the retailer was in the wrong to import, market, and sell these devices in Britain.
