Tarsus Technologies has announced the availability of IBM`s latest line of "mobile workstations", the T41 ThinkPad series, released as the successor to the popular T40 model.
The T41 is one of the thinnest and lightest (at 2.2kg), as well as one of the most mobile notebooks on the market. It`s designed to offer corporate users complete independence without losing the computing power or the capabilities ThinkPads have become renowned for. "Selected models include Intel Centrino Mobile Technology, which produces excellent performance with minimal battery drain at processor speeds of up to 1.7GHz," says Tanya Smart, IBM product manager at Tarsus. "When combining the ThinkPad High Capacity battery with the ThinkPad Ultrabay Slim Li Polymer battery (both optional), the system can deliver up to 9.5 hours of continuous battery operation."
To support users` connectivity requirements, the T41 is equipped with integrated 802.11a/b/g WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, along with a Gigabit Ethernet network port.
An advantage over competitive WiFi-enabled notebooks is the improved signal reception of the IBM UltraConnect Antenna. The antenna is built into the display of T41 notebooks to maximise the range of the notebook`s wireless reach. It also supports multiple frequencies to further optimise coverage and performance.
Up to 60Gb of hard drive space, 1GB of RAM and powerful video graphics ensure that normal office productivity can easily be taken on the road. Two USB ports make for the easy addition of peripheral devices, while the ergonomic keyboard with palm rest and IBM`s ThinkPad UltraNav multipointing system ensures comfortable operation in any situation.
"IBM has also included various security features to protect users` data," Smart adds. "The combination of the IBM Active Protection System and Integrated Hard Drive Shock Absorber delivers up to four times more impact protection for the hard disk than traditional notebooks. Additionally, IBM`s Embedded Security Subsystem 2.0 provides a double layer of built-in hardware and downloadable software-based data protection."
The unexpected is also catered for with IBM`s Rapid Restore Ultra, a one-button backup and recovery solution included with the T41 that allows users to easily restore their notebook to a working state should something go wrong and the system stops responding.
The T41 provides users with workstation power integrated with the ultimate in mobility and on-the-road connectivity, without forgetting about issues vital to all computer users: security and data protection. The T41 is available from Tarsus now.
