Telecoms company iBurst has once again become the first in the market to introduce an innovative product - its uncapped satellite solution! The uncapped VSAT product is geared at providing businesses in all corners of South Africa with unrestricted access to broadband services.
Internet via satellite has recently made great strides in improving the efficiency of data transmission via more cost-effective equipment, and iBurst is very proud to be pioneering the launch of this affordable and reliable VSAT technology for businesses in the country's far-flung areas to utilise without hash restrictions.
The company is launching its uncapped VSAT solution in October 2013, and the product, which is also designed for the home and small enterprise markets (SMEs), will be offered at extremely affordable business ADSL prices, which range between R1 000 and R5 000.
"Although telecoms infrastructure and technology in South Africa provides modern and efficient services to millions in the country's main urban areas, there are still substantial parts of the population, in particular businesses and SMEs, in the country's remote areas that do not have cost-effective access to broadband services. This kind of access opens the door to a wealth of knowledge and information that abounds on the Internet to these businesses and SMEs, not to mention the new markets it provides them access to," said iBurst Head of Services, Ronald Bartels.
"There are a number of satellite solutions on the market at present, but we are very confident that none have the kind of reach that this one will have - our service can literally be installed anywhere in sub-Saharan Africa and has no coverage restrictions. It can also compete effectively with the terrestrial broadband solutions and has been tailor-made in such a way that it is affordable," said Bartels.
"The service is uncapped, which means the subscriber never loses connectivity. Businesses are able to determine their own levels of service by selecting their own speeds and fair usage," he said.
The service will be offered in two forms, including the VSAT Uncapped service and the VSAT Uncapped Plus service. Some of the features include download speeds of up to 16Mbps, upload speeds of up to 1Mbps, and various daily fair usage selections, including the ability to request large downloads during non-peak periods. The product will be suitable for a voice line.
Further benefits of utilising this technology are that it doesn't require any fixed lines and it is not coverage dependent. The iBurst VSAT product is also immune to copper theft and provides an end-to-end solution, particularly for areas that have previously not been privy to such a service.
