International Corporation (IDC) will host an IT infrastructure event at the Hilton Hotel, in Sandton, on 20 November, as part of a series of roadshows taking place in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region.

IDC says the IT infrastructure roadshow will feature presentations by industry leaders and discussions on the latest trends and deployments of infrastructure technologies among key IT professionals in SA. Delegates will also benefit from industry insights derived from IDC`s 43 years of experience analysing ICT markets, it claims.

According to Jyoti Lalchandani, the regional VP and MD of IDC MEA, IT users in the region are increasingly looking beyond the mere acquisition of servers and storage. Instead, they are gravitating towards a more holistic view that brings into focus the optimisation of systems, integration with business processes, and returns on investment.

"Globally, increased IT infrastructure demands are driving a transition to new technologies such as multi-core processors and server virtualisation, while the rules of traditional backup, recovery, and archiving are being redefined," he says.

According to the company, virtualisation is a key issue to be discussed at the event. Industry experts will be on-hand to discuss the benefits of virtualisation and how users can set priorities to adopt it, as well as consolidate and simplify their server and storage infrastructure.

The event offers an opportunity for ICT stakeholders to network with industry analysts, interact with technology innovators, and share an understanding of industry best practices in the field of IT infrastructure, states IDC.

The roadshow is part of a series of events being held in the MEA region and follows IDC`s similarly modelled small and medium businesses roadshow. This event attracted key IT personnel from key end-user organisations in the SME segment, which constitutes over 95% of all companies in MEA.
