Ideal for photo book printing, Konica Minolta's bizhub PRESS C70hc

Johannesburg, 17 Jul 2012

Tapping into the tremendous market potential of photo book production has never been easier than with the combination of Konica Minolta's bizhub PRESS C70hc machine and its recently announced photo-PRESS software solution.

The HC (High Chroma) toner used by the new bizhub PRESS C70hc comes much closer to standard RGB (sRGB) than conventional toner, positioning it as the only resource for the highest level of colour reproduction. By producing vivid and natural colours that pioneer a new level of quality in production printing, the combination of these two solutions is ideal for the fast-growing photo book sector.

HC toner's most important feature is its ability to reproduce more of the sRGB range than was previously possible. Thus, the bizhub PRESS C70hc creates colours almost as they are displayed on a calibrated monitor. The HC toner is derived from Konica Minolta's Simitri HD toner technology and includes much higher colour saturation than is possible with the CMYK process.

The C70hc features a resolution of 1 200 x 1 200 dpi (8-bit) and works with Konica Minolta's advanced colour processing technology S.E.A.D. II (Screen-Enhancing Active Digital Process), which guarantees exceptional colour reproduction at up to 71 A4 pages per minute. The system can be equipped with any of three controllers - EFI Fiery, Creo Colour Server or a unique, proprietary Konica Minolta controller - and handles media of up to 300gsm.

The toner reproduces vivid colour on paper that could not be printed before, even when the monitor displayed the colours accurately. In addition, the post-printing drying process is no longer necessary, as it is a dry toner, contributing to a faster printing turnaround time. The high chroma toner also makes it possible to reproduce difficult “spot colours” by using only four default colours.

Another important aspect of this machine's feature set is its RGB workflow flexibility. Thanks to seamless integration with RGB workflows, colour set-up and colour conversion are fast and easy.

The bizhub PRESS C70hc comes in different configurations suited to the most frequent customer finishing requirements, including GBC punching, stapling options, a generous selection of folding functions, booklet creation and binding.
