IDS Scheer announces availability of next-generation process intelligence with ARIS PPM 5

Johannesburg, 25 Aug 2009

The latest release of ARIS Process Performance Manager (ARIS PPM) delivers new interaction options through its in-memory architecture, enabling users to quickly and easily identify and realise process optimisation potential. Pilot customers strongly endorse the product's performance.

In times of economic crisis, fast response times and strict compliance with service level agreements are particularly crucial to the bottom line of any business.

To maintain a competitive edge, companies need the ability to monitor and adapt their business processes before bottlenecks occur. By linking KPIs with monitoring and analysis of operational processes, managers can address emerging problems quickly and efficiently. With the latest version of ARIS PPM, IDS Scheer, the leading provider for business process management, is delivering the next generation of process intelligence.

This software product helps companies to continuously monitor and control their as-is processes by identifying systematic weaknesses and optimisation potential in terms of quantity, time, cost, and quality.

ARIS PPM 5 is based on a brand new in-memory architecture. This innovative concept involves storing all process-relevant data - highly compressed - in the main memory of the ARIS PPM server, without any loss of data. Only a fraction of the storage space used by traditional database systems is needed. Large numbers of processes can thus be efficiently processed without deploying high-end hardware components. Response and import times are also greatly reduced.

Additionally, the new architecture opens up new forms of interaction for every business analyst. Live analytics enable different process and performance views to be displayed on a single screen at the same time, making it easier to identify dependencies and correlations between KPIs. The underlying structural causes in the process organisation and organisational structure can also be identified. Combined with live benchmarking of KPIs and process structures, it is now possible to quickly spot trends and potential areas of improvement, even where very large quantities of data are involved.

“ARIS PPM 5 is even better than expected. There have been significant improvements in performance and with the multiple analysis functionality, we can now obtain new insights into our processes and identify areas for improvement - even as experienced long-term users of ARIS PPM,” says Martin Hermann of Loyalty Partner Solutions, after testing the new version on the company's own data, comprised more than 30 million process instances.

Another important feature is optimised support in ARIS PPM for process discovery, the proven, patented technology developed and refined over many years by IDS Scheer. This combines process-relevant data/events from IT systems (eg, ERP, CRM, workflow/legacy systems, etc) with automatic reconstruction and graphical display of executed processes. With ARIS PPM 5, this capability is even more powerful and efficient.

ARIS PPM 5 also enables fast implementation through significantly enhanced system configuration. Organisations can now map, analyse, and optimise a complete end-to-end process in a matter of weeks.

“The new release of ARIS Process Performance Manager is a direct response to the needs of our customers, who want to be able to analyse large quantities of data in an efficient manner. The new analysis options are very important for many users, because they can now identify relationships and optimisation potential much faster than before,” says Dr Wolfram Jost, Member of the Executive Board with responsibility for the worldwide Product Strategy and Development of IDS Scheer.
