IFS Applications streamlines maintenance processes at Braviken paper mill

Johannesburg, 19 Nov 2002

Holmen Paper AB`s Braviken Paper Mill, Sweden, has selected IFS Applications to streamline its maintenance processes. The solution will be used by all employees at the paper mill and will manage Braviken`s processes for purchasing, inventory, engineering, project management and maintenance. The solution is expected to go live in November 2003.

Braviken Paper Mill is one of the world`s most modern mills for newsprint and telephone directory paper and has a production capacity today of 700 000 tonnes a year. The mill has three paper machines. Braviken selected IFS Applications after evaluating a number of suppliers over a year. IFS was finally chosen because of the depth of functionality in IFS Applications and IFS` experience of similar implementations in other large paper mills.

Apart from the Braviken project, the agreement includes options for other units within the Holmen Group. Joakim Marklund, maintenance manager at Braviken Paper Mill, commented: "Our ambition is to continuously enhance efficiency.

"Modern, flexible IT solutions are an important tool in our improvement plans. Our legacy system could not deliver the IT support the company required. Many users were forced to handle assignments outside the system, which resulted in disparate information flows within the company. IFS Applications is a comprehensive solution and is easy to use."

Bengt Nilsson, president and CEO of IFS, added: "The order from Braviken reinforces our position as market leader in business applications for service and maintenance, the result of many years` resolute investment in R&D and market development within the segment. IFS has over 13% of the world market according to ARC, the business analysts, making us the leading supplier."
