GE Aircraft Engines has deployed Spectra maintenance enterprise software to support servicing of the US Navy`s F414-powered F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet fighter.
The software, developed by IFS and based on IFS Applications, is being used by the Government Industry Logistics Support (GILS) program within GE Aircraft Engines. The GILS team is deploying IFS modules for purchasing, inventory, customer orders, work orders, planning, and configuration management.
"We are extremely pleased with the progress we have seen to date," said Mike Gayron, GILS project manager for GE.
"The component architecture let us quickly implement key Spectra modules in less than five months to enable immediate operational benefit."
Phase one of the implementation project was launched in September 2001 and completed in February 2002. Additional components will be deployed later this year.
"The aviation industry is more focused than ever before on controlling costs while improving services and products. With more than 60 integrated components, Spectra is allowing customers to better manage increasingly complex maintenance information for improved performance and profitability," said Terje Vangbo, IFS North America president.
GE Engine Services signed a multimillion-dollar agreement last year to deploy IFS software at its network of more than 60 facilities worldwide.
