Lockheed Martin, a leading aerospace and defence technology enterprise, will deploy IFS Applications at two manufacturing sites with more than 700 users.
The IFS software solution includes a suite of manufacturing, distribution and engineering components. In addition to running IFS internally, Lockheed Martin Information Systems has agreed to pursue other potential opportunities with IFS in the defence industry, including the F-16 Automated Logistics Management System (ALMS), the logistics and maintenance support system supporting the F16 international sales.
Lockheed Martin will use IFS Applications at facilities that manufacture electronics, avionics and control systems to support defence contracts. The IFS solution also will be deployed in a program relating to the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter project.
"IFS`s expanding relationship with Lockheed Martin is indicative of our focus on and momentum in the defence industry," said IFS North America president Michael Nordin. "We are particularly excited about the duality of our relationship where IFS may both serve Lockheed Martin as our customer as well as collaborate in mutually beneficial business opportunities."
With aviation and defence being one of IFS`s targeted market segments, IFS Applications includes advanced standard functionality that meets the demanding requirements of defence manufacturers. IFS`s fully integrated project tracking and product data management (PDM) capabilities, when combined with other IFS Applications components, make it easier for defence manufacturers to operate within government regulatory requirements while managing the design, manufacture and ongoing spare parts logistics and maintenance support (MRO) of complex products throughout the product`s lifecycle.
Customers within aviation and defence include General Dynamics, BAE SYSTEMS, Saab Bofors Dynamics, Saab Aerospace, GE Aircraft Engines, L3 Communications, Derco Aerospace, Conax, Gables Engineering, Hawker Pacific and Bristow Helicopters.
