At the recent IFS World Conference in Gothenburg, Sweden, IFS announced the seventh generation of IFS`s component-based application suite - IFS Applications 7. This new release provides companies with new levels of user productivity that improve their bottom line.
The new applications suite brings industry focus and productivity to the next level by including innovations in application design, graphical user interaction and information visualisation. Based on completely open service-oriented component architecture (SOCA), IFS Applications 7 offers increased flexibility, giving companies the ability to continuously revise and improve processes as well as reshape applications as processes change.
President and CEO, Michael Hall'en, commented: "Our customers and several industry analysts, such as AMR and Gartner, have said that one of the biggest success factors for any enterprise application project is the sheer usability of the application by its customers: the end-users of the application. One new application in the IFS Applications 7 suite, MaxOEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), clearly demonstrates our leading edge in user productivity as well as how that usability directly impacts a company`s bottom line. It also includes the vertical industry depth needed to provide effective business applications."
IFS Applications 7 continues to support the growing number of project-driven enterprises and their need for efficient processes by introducing a broad range of new capabilities such as contract lifecycle management, project-driven manufacturing, and project supply chain management.
Paul Whalley, MD of IFS South Africa, adds: "With the growing variety and uniqueness of market opportunities, more and more companies find greater ROI when their core business is managed in the form of projects. The project economy and the project enterprise require a level of application integration that IFS supports in every stage of a project`s lifecycle including the after-market services, an area in which today`s companies are finding increased revenues and profits."
To help companies reduce the increasing complexity of global supply chains and to increase customer responsiveness while maintaining cost-efficiency, IFS Applications 7 also includes new solutions for supply chain management (SCM) planning and collaboration in demand and supply networks. And, supporting the company`s focus on seven key vertical industries, IFS also announced a number of new vertical market solutions including workforce planning and call centre management within the service and facilities management industry.
Reinforcing the company`s position as the vendor committed to standards and enabling technology co-existence, IFS Applications 7 also includes support for the latest J2EE and .Net technologies such as IBM WebSphere 6, Oracle AS 10g, and JBoss 4.0. The Java portal standard (JSR-168) is also supported, allowing companies to access and use IFS Applications directly from within IBM WebSphere Portal.
