IKI deploys self-service
According to Retail Solutions, IKI, Lithuania's second largest retail grocery chain, has deployed NCR FastLane self-checkout as a pilot at its store in Vilnius, providing IKI customers with the option to scan, bag and pay for goods themselves.
NCR partner New Vision is responsible for the sale and installation of the solution.
"Self-checkout will change the way people shop in Lithuania while giving IKI a key service differentiator," said IKI director general Aidas Mackevicius.
Continental checks in with NCR
Continental Airlines has installed self-service check-in kiosks from NCR at 13 airports throughout Latin America, states Business Wire.
NCR self-check-in kiosks utilise common use self-service technology, which allows different airline applications to run concurrently on a single self-service device.
The kiosks also feature an integrated bar code imager, to enable easy customer identification, as well as an integrated passport reader to cater to international travellers.
Abu Dhabi motorists fill up
Motorists in Abu Dhabi now have the option of using "self-service terminals" to put petrol in their cars, says Gulf News.
Some petrol stations run by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company have introduced self-service fuel filling terminals.
The self-service terminals installed on a trial basis accept only prepaid e-cash cards issued by the company.
