Imaging tech to mitigate terrorism
US Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano says both the advanced imaging technology (AIT) at airports and the network of video surveillance in lower Manhattan are needed to detect and mitigate terrorism, reports Government Video.
Napolitano toured the security screening operations at John F Kennedy International Airport where the Transportation Security Administration has installed the first two AIT units out of 300 deployed at 60 airports throughout the country.
She said, “From securing our airports to supporting local law enforcement, the Obama administration is committed to getting critical information and resources out of Washington DC and into the hands of the men and women serving on the front lines.”
