Imperial Bank has increased their strategic investment in the locally developed Oculus document management and workflow solution.
The asset based finance institution recently upgraded the three-year-old Oculus system to run across its entire corporate WAN, at the same time extending the application of Oculus to its complete range of financial services.
The system was originally implemented to scan, archive and manage the high volume of paperwork and legal documentation handled by its Motor Finance division and has proved dramatically successful in cutting down the paper chase and improving data access speed and efficiency.
"We wanted to leverage our investment in the technology and extend the benefits to other areas of our business," confirms assistant general manager: IT, Marc Schmidt.
"Because the Bank operates from two different localities, we also wanted to upgrade to allow for two points of entry to Oculus and full version control, including replication between the two sites and redundancy control," he adds.
The upgraded system has two scanners installed and employs data synchronisation across the Bank`s WAN using Oculus Transfer and Link modules.
In addition, a Web server with browser interface to Oculus has been installed alongside a second large server to facilitate rapid deployment and internet-based access to data anywhere in the network.
According to Schmidt, cost saving benefits are largely intuitive and the investment was mainly efficiency-driven.
"We have greatly improved response times which immediately means better operating and customer service efficiency," he explains.
"We are very much a technology-driven business and believe this investment will make us more productive and therefore also more competitive in the marketplace," he concludes.
