South African organisations are among the 23 new members of Open Group, an international industry body, aimed at setting enterprise architecture standards.
Open Group is represented locally by Real IRM, which confirms the University of Pretoria and Telkom SA are among the newest organisations from multiple industries to join Open Group.
Stuart Macgregor, MD of Real IRM, says the recent increase in members indicates the growing importance of global standards designed to achieve the goal of boundary-less information flow among today`s IT leaders in government, academia and industry.
By joining Open Group, Macgregor says an organisation of any size can have a voice in influencing new methods and approaches to enterprise architecture. It also gives them access to a global network of organisations developing best business practices and standards.
Organisations belonging to Open Group engage in a wide range of topics discussed by the group, and are exposed to new products, as well as core work areas and forums, says Macgregor.
