Incredible Connection is to stock Apple Macintosh products in its retail stores from early November, a move it says will have a significant impact on consumer sales.
"We have committed to substantial stocks, point-of-sale displays and support for Macintosh products in our key stores," says Incredible Connection`s David Hirsch. "It is a sexy brand and a great line-up. We`re going all the way with it.
"It`s clear that consumers want to buy Macs, but until now, there has been almost no retail presence for the iMac and iBook in SA.
"In the past, anyone who did want a Mac had to pay crazy prices and endure lengthy delivery times - that`s all going to change."
Incredible Connection will focus on the two retail Macintosh products - iMac and its portable sibling, iBook. Extensive coverage will also be given to peripherals, software and the essential retail element: games.
According to Apple, sales in recent months have seen a significant increase over the same period last year, indicating a strong demand for Macintosh products. The company says unit sales increases are ahead of the industry averages, an indication that new users want a viable alternative to the PC.
"We`ve seen this interest grow through our own call centre and realised that we needed a reseller who could demonstrate Macintosh in a retail setting," says Bruno Verolini, Apple`s country manager.
"Incredible Connection has the geographic coverage, the correct demographics and the retail commitment to make Macintosh a real consumer success story in SA. Potential customers can now visit any Incredible store to test drive any of our consumer products."
