India gets virtual learning

initiative, called myBskool.com, that aims to offer a complete portable classroom solution, The Hindu Business Line reports.

According to ThinkBig, myBskool.com will provide lessons using mobile phones, tablet devices and PCs. The company says it uses an “advanced technology solution to ensure almost buffering-free flow of content”.

The organisation proposes to take the “blended learning route” to make education more effective, MyDigitalFC.com says.

The initiative has tied up with the Indian Institute of Management Ranchi IIM-R, which plans to record and live stream one-third of classroom course content. Under the model, only 40% of the assessment will depend on exam performance. The rest will be continuous assessment based on student interactions in the online platform, participations in discussions and collaboration with other students.

Professor MJ Xavier, from IIM-R, points out that students need to register their thumb impressions, using a biometric sensor, every 30 minutes, adding this would help check the student's attendance, Deccan Chronicle reveals.

“They would be asked to type their subject notes in a separate module that would be used to evaluate their understanding about the subject,” he adds.

Students will be able to virtually attend classroom sessions, as all lectures will be broadcast live.
