Indian classrooms get hi-tech

HCL Infosystems introduced its e-learning solution, called HCL DigiSchool, during e-India - a three-day international conference held at Hyderabad, reports TechWhack.

HCL DigiSchool is a multimedia classroom designed for Indian schools. The solution provides content management and integration of features like an interactive whiteboard, student response system, and online examination module.

George Paul, executive VP, HCL Infosystems, says: “This solution will equip the teacher and make learning easy for the students. This solution is in line with our endeavour to constantly evolve the technological interface, in order to offer customised and user-friendly solutions which are relevant across sectors.”

NGOs look to content management

Ektron is driving Web content management platforms to non-profit organisations, states Market Watch.

According to Ektron, non-profit organisations are looking for social computing tools to build membership communities, online donation platforms and easy integration with third party applications.

"Non-profits are continuing to rethink their online strategies and the tools they need to execute and achieve their goals," says David Maffei, director of sales at Ektron.

Sitecore releases Web CM

Sitecore, a provider of .NET Web content management system software, unveils Foundry 3.0, a solution that allows organisations to create and manage distributed Web sites, says AjaxWorld.

In addition to support for Sitecore's CMS 6.1, Foundry 3.0 offers editing support, advanced controls based on the .NET security provider framework, and enhanced HTML newsletter capabilities.

The software has social computing modules to build forums, extranets, newsletter and SMS distribution, activity calendars, ad spot rotation and Microsoft Silverlight photo gallery support.
