Indian printing spend rises

SMEs in India are spending 19% more on printers than last year, says Digital50. There is a marked increase in documentation which has led to printing costs for SMEs growing to $330 million.

Small businesses in India are showing the most growth with regard to technology, and reportedly 40% of small business bought printers last year.

There is also a trend from inkjet to laser or to multi-function devices, although dot-matrix printers still account for 29% of the printers for SMEs.

Epson voted 'best in class'

The Epson Stylus Pro 3800 and P-5000 Multimedia Storage Viewer have been recognised as best in class across Europe, says Graphic Repro online.

The Stylus Pro 3800 has been voted "Best expert photo printer in Europe 2007" by the Technical Imaging Press Association.

The Stylus Pro 3800 reportedly won the award due to its "high-quality ink technology, performance and flexibility".

HP's common access card

HP has unveiled a range of IT solutions, including printing and imaging solutions, to aid US federal departments improve their IT environments, says THISDAY online.

One of the key features is the Virtual Connect common access card, which allows employees secure authentication for printing and imaging.

The implementation of this includes the reworking of the multifunction printing devices to allow for access cards.
