Johannesburg, 18 Nov 1999

Tarsus Technologies announces the price performance leader in printing from IBM Tarsus Technologies, the distribution arm of MB Technologies, has announced availability of the new IBM Infoprint Colour 8, a workgroup laser printer designed for fast colour business printing. "With the capability to print at up to 8 pages per minute, this new printer is poised to become a winner in the price sensitive marketplace," says Justine Jobe, product manager for IBM PDA`s, printers and workstations at Tarsus.

Key features: IBM InfoPrint Colour 8

  • A straight paper path allows for a wide media choice, including labels, transparencies and card stock.

  • The straight paper path, combined with single pass printing minimises mechanical movement within the printer. This extends parts life, decreases paper jams and minimises user intervention.

  • Standard input capacity is 500 sheets, allowing for "interrupt free" printing of most applications.

  • The Infoprint Colour 8 is Year 2000 ready, and supports virtually any environment including Windows, Apple Mcintosh, Sun Solaris, OS/400 and OS/2.

  • The base printer can handle all PCL 5c and Adobe Postscript 3 printing

  • Support for the Printing Protocol means that users can easily check the status or change the printer set-up without leaving their desk. This is accomplished by using any Internet Web browser. The printer can even monitor itself and issue e-mail if the printer requires attention.

"The IBM InfoPrint Colour 8 allows users to print large colour documents and presentations twice as fast as other colour printers in the same price range, making it the only choice for busy printing environments," concludes Jobe.
