Ingres unveils OS ECM solution

Ingres, a provider of open source database management software and support services, has introduced the Ingres Icebreaker Enterprise Content Management (ECM) Appliance, says Business Wire.

Powered by Alfresco's open source alternative software for ECM, the Ingres Icebreaker ECM Appliance gives businesses a way to manage business content growth.

Like other commercial open source solutions, the Ingres Icebreaker ECM Appliance lets IT purchasers pay only for the software and support they actually need.

Optaros, Acquia & Alfresco partner

Optaros, providers of custom, online applications, has integrated CMIS into the Drupal open source content management system (CMS), states MSNBC.

Optaros partnered with Acquia, commercial support provider for the open source Drupal, and Alfresco, the open source alternative for ECM, to integrate Alfresco with Drupal using CMIS.

Proposed as a new standard for content management by industry-leading organisations including IBM, Microsoft, Oracle and Alfresco, CMIS allows for interoperability between multiple sites and content repositories.

Framework eases enterprise CM

Organisations requiring help with ECM implementations received a boost in the form of a new framework created by a group of leading consulting and analyst firms, reports Vnunet.

The ECM Maturity Model (ECM3) has been released by Wipro, Hartman Communicatie, Smigiel Consulting Group and CMS Watch, and aims to provide a structured framework for building an ECM roadmap.

The model is targeted at ECM business leaders, analysts and IT leaders, and hypothetical examples of organisations at each maturity level are included to make it more accessible.
