Innovya showcases traceless biometrics

solutions company Innovya R&D has developed a traceless biometrics solution that authenticates users` without requiring storage of any unique or personal biometric information.

The amorphous biometric identifier agent, or "BIDToken" (Non-unique Biometric Identifier Token), is designed to be biometrically traceless, so that an exact image or copy of the biometric information is not maintained.

This is equivalent to the allocation of ATM/credit/debit secret four-digit PIN code which is associated with the biometrics characteristics of the user, reports Computerworld Singapore.

Fingerprint combo readers dominate

Fingerprint access devices are the dominant biometric technology product in the access control product line, according to Global Sources.

Combination card readers, meanwhile, are becoming popular in the non-biometric line; many of these products are integrating biometric functions as well. Manufacturers are using CMOS biometric sensors mainly because of the component`s lower cost.

Makers are also using CCD sensors, which are more durable for large-volume access applications such as time/attendance recorders, though they have a higher cost.

Lenel offers converged physical, logical security solution

Bioscrypt, a provider of identity verification technology, has announced that global security systems innovator Lenel has integrated Bioscrypt VeriSoft Access Manager into the IdentityDefender and OnGuard 2006 solutions by Lenel.

Lenel is part of UTC Fire & Security, a United Technologies business unit. Privately labelled by Lenel as IdentityEnforcer, the VeriSoft Access Manager application is one of five modules that comprise IdentityDefender, an end-to-end solution for issuing secure identity credentials (cards) to individuals using a trusted process.

IdentityEnforcer is a logical access application that enables a credential holder to log on to a computer using a finger-scan, card or both.
