Inobits inks BEE deal with TSS

Johannesburg, 19 Jul 2006

In a deal that will both bolster its professional services competency and deliver compliance with the ICT sector`s BEE charter, Inobits has announced that it has sold 51% of its local operation to Tactical Software Systems (TSS).

The deal allows Inobits to increase its ability to play in the public sector space and through a close association with TSS Managed Services, expand its service capability into many complementary areas of focus.

Says Hud Krause, financial director of Inobits: "We have been actively engaged in a search for a suitable BEE partner for the better part of three years now. While numerous parties expressed interest in Inobits during that period, none of the potential bidders displayed a cultural fit or shared vision with Inobits, as well as the high level of service excellence the company is well known for.

"That is of course, until we engaged with TSS," he adds. "Before the deal was formalised there was undoubtedly a strong sense of synergy and shared vision between ourselves and TSS."

Krause says that although the deal has only recently been formalised, tangible benefits have already come to light. "We have immediately found a great deal of common ground, with Inobits providing its expertise in some of the high-level aspects of TSS` projects currently under way at the South African Department of Justice and Constitutional Development.

"We are convinced that over the coming months, both TSS and Inobits will benefit from being able to offer their respective customers an increased portfolio of services, as well as more of an end-to-end offering. The future is indeed positive," he explains.

Jehan MacKay, Operations Director at TSS Managed Services, says his company is also extremely excited about the prospects this deal will bring. "TSS Managed Services has long-standing relationships with many large customers, where we have delivered large-scale IT infrastructure rollouts in a fraction of the time our competitors would be capable of.

"The acquisition of Inobits brings increased high-level Microsoft architecture skills and training capabilities to the organisation, which will allow us to provide end-to-end IT infrastructure solutions by adding critical service competencies that range from initial consultative design and architectural engagements, right through to the actual delivery and deployment of services in large-scale infrastructure projects.

"We are extremely excited about the synergies that currently exist between the two companies and are convinced that over the coming year additional synergies will be discovered and capitalised on specifically in the Microsoft infrastructure space," he concludes.

Also, as a black-owned company, skills development and capacity building is a cornerstone of our culture and therefore one of the major benefits of the acquisition will be our ability to fast-track the development capability to draw young black talent into the ICT industry. The high-end training offering within Inobits also augers well with our commitment to career development for our own staff as well as the other disadvantaged people trying desperately to get into this sector with a meaningful certification.
