Direct computer vendor, Dell SA, has announced the availability of its wireless-ready Inspiron 8100. This notebook offers customers significantly improved performance and lower power usage.
This Inspiron features Intel`s Mobile Pentium III processor 1.2GHz-M, which Leigh Hancock, product marketing manager at Dell SA, says is an important step in the evolution of mobile computing. "This new processor coupled with large, ultra-sharp 15-inch displays and multiple optical drives, results in the Inspiron 8100 qualifying as a true desktop replacement."
According to Hancock, the new Intel processor can offer more than 25% higher performance on productivity applications and 45% better performance on gaming applications compared to the Intel Pentium III at 1GHz processor.
In addition to higher processing performance, the Inspiron 8100 also features the nVidia GeForce2Go chipset, which offers increased graphics capacity of up to 32MB. Says Hancock: "The nVidia graphics solutions include Twinview technology, which allows customers to use dual monitors on the same notebook system, a common configuration in especially the financial industry."
The price of a typical Inspiron 8100, configured with an 866MHz CPU, starts at R13 490, excluding VAT and delivery. It features 128MB SDRAM, 15-inch SXGA+ display, 16X DVD ROM, 10GB ATA-100 hard drive, integrated 56k v.90 modem, 16MB nVidia GeForce2Go graphics chipset, Microsoft Windows Millennium, Microsoft Works Suite as well as a one-year limited warranty. The Inspiron product line is supported by Dell Services, which can help lower customers` cost of computing with a full suite of computing services, including customisation, installation and after-sale support.
