National network integration and infrastructure support specialist Integr8 IT, one of only two Computer Associate (CA) `Insiders` worldwide, was represented at the CA World 2003 held recently in Las Vegas, USA.
In 2003, Integr8 IT became the only company in SA to be awarded `Insider` status with CA. This achievement opened up additional business opportunity with regard to the selling, implementation and service of CA`s product range.
According to regional account manager at CA Africa, Dion Gerrans, the `Insider` programme originated in Europe and is based on the recognition of key resellers identified for their success in selling, implementation and service with regard to CA`s range of products.
`Insiders` are then used to perform pre-sales demonstrations to potential clients because of their ability to offer total solutions and ongoing support should the deal be successful. This is preferential to Computer Associates proposing a solution only to have the dealer initiate the sales cycle once again and fulfil obligations made by another party.
The company is focused exclusively on the storage and security arena within CA and, says Louis Botha, Integr8 IT consultant, networking and establishing contacts was the main benefit to the company`s participation. "We gained a great deal out of the conference. We met with partners and developers on the security side and raised questions on issues, challenges going forward and the future. As CA partners, we were provided with information on ways to improve our service delivery to clients by using the support channel specifically for the channel partners," explains Botha.
"In addition, we were exposed to products that are in the beta phases at the moment. On the storage side, these include Brightstor Arcserve 10 and Brightstor Arcserve Enterprise backup 11, as well as the new High Availability agent and Mobile Backup Agents being launched soon. The Storage Portal software also made a great topic and just showed that you can manage any and every component from a central place," adds Botha.
According to Botha, CA used the event to publicise its commitment to delivering the best software available and building the partner channel to assist its customers. Integr8 IT participated in this overseas event to further increase its skill and expertise within the storage and security arena, as well as maintain its position at the forefront of international trends.
