Local network integration, solution and services specialist Integr8 IT today announced support of the new IntelSR870BH2 server platform based on the new Intel Itanium 2 processor with 6MB L3 cache.
In the coming weeks, Integr8 IT will offer solutions based on a new server platform Intel SR870BH2, which supports up to two Intel Itanium 2 processors in a 2U rack-optimised form factor. As a selected Intel premier provider, Integr8IT will integrate this latest offering into its existing Intel product portfolio.
"The newly launched Intel Itanium 2 6M processor at frequencies up to 1.50GHz and the Itanium 2-based platforms are uniquely architected for enterprise, the technology offers improved scalability and reliability for data intensive, business-critical computing with headroom for growth," says Danie Steyn, Server Product Manager, Intel Corporation South Africa.
According to the tpc.org, about 55% performance improvement is seen when comparing the TPC-C benchmark results of a four-way 1.5GHz Intel Itanium 2 processor with 6MB of L3 Cache and that of a four-way 2.0GHz Intel Xeon processor with 2MB of L3 cache.
