Network Integration and solution specialist Integr8 IT has made a significant business connection with Ideal Fastener Corporation, one of the largest distributors and agents of apparel trimmings to the clothing industry in southern Africa. The network enhancement project was based on the strategy to build a solution around business requirements and centralise the infrastructure.
According to Integr8 IT network engineer Francois Conradie, the installation of Windows 2000 Terminal Services provided the company with a cost-effective and viable alternative to its distributed network running PC-Anywhere connections. The total solution included upgrading the company`s current third-party POP3 mail system to Exchange 2000 and moving its distributed client database into Active Directory.
"By presenting Ideal Fastener with a reliable, fast solution, we have decreased the total cost of ownership and increased their productivity. A centralised terminal service infrastructure provides a single point of control and the ability to protect, backup and manage the company`s greatest asset, namely its data. This means that every piece of data, be it their mail, accounts or inventory information gets backed up.
"The largest challenge we had with the project was working with legacy 16-bit applications and printing issues associated with them. Our strategy was to build the solution around their business needs, rather than a specific product. To this degree we successfully integrated their hybrid business requirements into a single, solid system that serves their business needs best," says Conradie.
As one of the few Microsoft Licensing Management Partners (MLMP), Integr8 IT has placed the corporation onto its MLMP program to ensure the company remains fully licensed.
