Intel delivers new technology for full-size notebook PCs

Johannesburg, 17 Jun 2003

Intel Corporation has introduced new mobile processors and chipsets for transportable notebook PCs. These systems offer near-desktop features, including high performance, larger screens, full size keyboards and multiple drives.

The new products include the Mobile Intel Pentium 4 processor, the Intel Celeron processor and the Intel 852PM and GME chipsets. The Mobile Intel Pentium 4 processor offers frequencies up to 3.06GHz, power management features that enable lower thermals than its desktop counterpart, along with Intel design guidelines and testing, which enable more reliable system performance. Notebooks based on the Mobile Intel Pentium 4 processor allow users to take advantage of processor-intensive multimedia applications such as video encoding, digital media and gaming.

When combined with the Mobile Intel Pentium 4 processor, the new chipsets deliver the advantages of Double Data-Rate (DDR) 333 / 266 memory capability at up to 2GB capacity and support for 533MHz system buses. The Intel 852GME chipset features Intel Extreme Graphics 2 technology, which offer realistic 3D graphics with sharp images.

The Mobile Intel Pentium 4 processor is built on the Intel NetBurst microarchitecture and features a 533MHz system bus and support for advanced mobile power management including Enhanced Intel SpeedStep technology, Deep Sleep and Deeper Sleep.

Additionally, Intel also introduced the final speed enhancements for its Mobile Intel Pentium 4 Processor - M and the Mobile Intel Celeron processor product families.

In 1 000 unit quantities, the Intel 855PM and Intel 855GME chipsets are priced at $35 and $45, respectively.

Intel, the world`s largest chipmaker, is also a leading manufacturer of computer, networking and communications products. Additional information about Intel is available at www.intel.com/pressroom.
