Intel, Nokia converge tech

Intel and Nokia are collaborating in the development of next-generation mobile computing devices, according to EE Times.

Under the joint agreement, Intel will fund the development of chipsets for Nokia products with the collaboration spanning open source software programs.

The two companies want to establish a partnership for a new generation of mobile computing products as their two market segments, namely personal computing and wireless communication, continue to converge.

Cisco drives unified computing

Cisco Systems revealed at the recent Cisco Live Event that the company has a number of projects under way to help businesses run their centres efficiently, says eWeek.

Cisco is bringing together its Nexus family of network switches with its unified computing system infrastructure to create the Nexus Data Centre Pod.

The solution combines the converged infrastructure of a unified computing system with virtual private networks and firewalls to load balancing and orchestration capabilities.

Blackberry gets VOIP over WiFi

Enterprise specialist Agito Networks is rolling out VOIP over WiFi and unified communications (UC) to BlackBerry users, reports Channel Pro.

Agito already supports Symbian OS and Windows Mobile OS devices, and is currently the only mobile UC vendor to extend VOIP, UC and PBX functionality to the BlackBerry over the WLAN, as well as across the cellular network.

Agito's fixed mobile convergence platform, the RoamAnywhere Mobility Router, transfers the user's mobile device between cell and WiFi networks whenever it is required.
