Intel targets low-priced laptops

PC Advisor reports.

The new dual-core Celeron 877 and 847 chips, based on the Sandy Bridge micro architecture, are part of the same family of processors that appeared in low-priced laptops in the $200 to $500 range during last year's holiday shopping season. The 877, in particular, will allow vendors to cut prices while boosting performance.

The Celeron 807 and 877 have a 17 W TDP, writes Hardware Info.

The single-core Celeron 807 has a clock frequency of 1.5GHz and supports Hyperthreading. The chip has 1.5MB of L3 cache and will cost $70. One step up is the dual-core Celeron 877, which does not have Hyperthreading available. This 1.4GHz chip has 2MB of L3 cache memory. The Celeron 877 is to be priced $86. Both processors are soldered onto the motherboard.

According to Fudzilla, the Celeron G550T and Pentium G645T are both a part of the low-power dual-core line-up and feature Intel HD graphics, DDR3-1066 memory support and Intel's 64 and virtualisation technologies.

The G550T and G645T are direct successors of the previously released G540T and G640T and are pretty much feature just a clock bump.
