Intelleca earns two finalist berths in 2006 Technology Top 100 awards

Johannesburg, 30 Jan 2007

Intelleca was recently recognised at the 2006 Technology Top 100 awards as a finalist in two categories, namely the Minister's Award for Medium Enterprises and the Leader in Commercialisation award.

The institution aims to recognise the contributions made by local innovators in identifying business opportunities, establishing companies, creating employment and contributing to the economy.

"We have built Intelleca as a very different kind of ICT company," says Intelleca CEO Mike Renzon, "one that embraces complex business and technological challenges, and is prepared to invest over an extended period of time to create the necessary skills, relationships, and IP to commercialise these innovations in order to solve real business problems. We are more than delighted to have been nominated by Technology Top 100 for the work that we are so passionate about."

Technology Top 100 is considered SA's foremost business excellence awards programme, says Stephan Lamprecht, GM of Technology Top 100. "It is a national programme that acknowledges the successes today's businesses enjoy through their development and use of technology. It encourages, measures and honours these organisations for the value their use of technology brings to our economy.

"Whether they are small, medium or large businesses, the Technology Top 100 are those organisations that optimise technology to maximise profits, gain market share, create niche markets and add value for their stakeholders."

A member of the Da Vinci group of companies, the Technology Top 100 was launched in 1990. It aims to:

* Recognise the way local companies use technology and innovation to achieve their goals;
* Give these companies an opportunity to benchmark themselves against their peers;
* Provide expert third-party appraisals of organisations' efforts in using and developing technology;
* Broadcast the achievements of these companies to the nation; and
* Award prestige to those companies associated with the programme

The awards programme is open to all organisations that skilfully manage technology, either as developers of new technologies or innovative users of existing technology. An international organisation whose registered head office is outside of SA can enter on condition that it demonstrates distinct elements of the management of technology and innovation in its SA operation.
