Intelligent Energy announces Brookstone as US launch partner for Upp - a new category of portable energy device

2014 International CES - Intelligent Energy, the global power technology company, today announced that it is partnering with the US retailer and product development company, Brookstone, to launch the Upp personal energy device at this year's CES. Based on Intelligent Energy's innovative fuel cell technology, Upp represents a new category of device able to power USB-compatible portable electronic devices, such as smartphones, feature phones, e-readers, tablets, portable gaming consoles, as well as digital cameras, providing consumers with the energy freedom to keep connected and powered up.

Based on a single fuel cartridge, Upp delivers at least one week of charge even to the most demanding, power-hungry smartphones. Upp also comes with an app, which provides users with fuel prediction capability, shows the nearest fuel cartridge exchange locations, as well as personal usage statistics, FAQs and overall customer support. The app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store (iOS 5 and higher) or from Google Play for Android devices (Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and higher).

Brookstone is a nationwide speciality retailer offering an assortment of consumer products that are functional in purpose, and distinctive in both quality and design. Upp will be included in Brookstone's showcase of exciting new products at CES at the Las Vegas Convention Center, South Hall 4 booth number 36605.

This strategic alliance with Brookstone follows many months of successful consumer trials in some of the most demanding regions in Africa leading to the launch of Upp at the AfricaCom exhibition in Cape Town in November 2013. The companies will work together to distribute Upp within the United States. Upp will be available via Brookstone in early 2014 and will retail for $199.
