Intel`s Amazon village to boost

Intel has created a wireless, high-speed network for residents to access vast resources of medical, educational and commercial knowledge through computers in one of the most remote inhabited places on Earth, the Amazon, reports Healthcare IT News.

The project is part of the Intel World Ahead Program, an initiative in which Intel plans to invest more than $1 billion globally over the next five years to accelerate access to computers, the Internet and technology for people in developing communities.

The digital transformation of Parintins, a town on an island in the Amazon River, is expected to improve the healthcare and education of its 114 000 residents and advance the lives of future generations.

SAP, Accenture team up in healthcare solution

Software maker SAP and consulting firm Accenture will work together to develop software for the health care industry, the two companies said.

SAP and Accenture, which is losing money on an $11.7 billion project to revamp technology for Britain`s National Health System, said they want to take advantage of fast growth in spending on health care IT, reports ZDnet News.

Philips tackles healthcare

Telugu Portal reports Royal Philips Electronics NV, a leading consumer electronics and healthcare group, has decided to make its India operations central to its global innovation strategy, a company official said.

"Our innovation campus in Bangalore will reflect the new profile of the company to drive technology and products in lifestyle and healthcare for contributing about 50% of our global software and research and development requirements," Rudy Provoost, Philips Consumer Electronics CEO, told reporters.
