International Fairs & Exhibitions brings international flair to Tel.Com and to Africa

Tel.Com, Africa`s largest telecommunications exhibition is attracting more and more interest from exhibitors worldwide. Being held at Gallagher Estate from 20 - 22 April 1999 this years show will be bigger and better than ever with leading international companies such as Nokia Telecommunications, Daewoo Telecom, ICO Global Communications, Bosch Telecom GmbH, Uunet International and Weir Lamda among others taking part.

Since its inception the biennial Tel.Com exhibition has proven time and again to be the key event for companies in the Telecommunication systems, products, services, infrastructure and development fields. In 1997, the exhibition attracted almost 6 000 quality trade visitors and over 100 top class exhibitors. This years exhibition already has over 100 top class exhibitors with many international exhibitors wanting to `feel out` the South African market, as well as internationally based exhibitors with local offices - like IBM South Africa, Ericsson, Plessey and Philips Business Electronics.

Tel.Com `99 will present exhibitors and visitors alike with an ideal opportunity to network with some of the worlds best known and most successful telecommunications companies, as well as to expose South Africans to first hand international and local telecommunications trends and expertise.

"Tel.Com`99 is one of the most important telecoms exhibitions in South Africa this year, and Nokia wants to be present to communicate strong messages on the latest network products and solutions and services that Nokia can offer to the new cellular operator in South Africa," says Ulla Maculan from Nokia, Spain.

"For us, the timing of the exhibition is perfect. Nokia South Africa Ltd. is actively looking into partnering with the South African 3rd cellular operator to become their GSM network infrastructure supplier. Since the license will be most probably issued in July-August, April is an excellent time to have some visibility in a local exhibition. We are confident that Tel.Com will enhance our visibility and give us the chance to `network` with the rest of the telecommunications industry. Anyone who is anyone in the communications industry will be at Tel.Com `99."

As well as over 5 800m^2 of exhibition space, Tel.Com will coincide with a comprehensive telecommunications conference and seminars. These conferences and seminars will be presented by both local and international experts, and will address topics such as legislation, import/export, new technologies, industry trends and developments.

"Tel.Com is Southern Africa`s premier biennial Telecommunications conference and exhibition and one which should not be missed by anyone serious about the telecommunications industry. As South Africa faces up to the challenges of the 21st century, and we move towards an African Information Renaissance, Tel.Com `99 should have pole position on your conference and exhibition calendar," says Wolfgang Striebeck, managing director of International Fairs and Exhibitions.
