The international electronics event, Advanced Overclocking Championship 2008 (AOCC 2008), successfully commenced on 28 July 2008 at the G/F Exhibition Area, Dragon Centre, West Kowloon, Hong Kong. Contestants from all over the world pitted their skills against each other today to vie for the coveted crown of being the international winner of AOCC 2008.

Day 1 updates

Xu Gang and Susie of Team China, a veteran couple of many overclocking competitions, today emerged victorious to take home the title of AOCC 2008 Champion. They bested 19 other teams to eke out the best possible performance to claim this prestigious title. With over 4 years of experience in overclocking, Team China beat all odds to emerge first in all three categories of the competition - SuperPI 8M, 3DMark2001 and 3DMark Vantage - to go on and become the Champion of AOCC 2008!

Team Sweden clinched the first runner up position, second runner-up went to Team Portugal, while third runner-up was awarded to Team Singapore and fourth runner up to Team Finland.

The hardware used in the competition are all top-notch products from ASUS, Intel, NVIDIA, Kingston, FSP and Western Digital. These components include the premium Intel P45 Express Chipset motherboard - the ASUS P5Q3 Deluxe, which incorporates ExpressGate - a feature which allows users to go from bootup to online quickly without entering the operating system. Other top-rated hardware included the fastest graphics card - the ASUS ENGTX280, which utilises the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280 GPU for maximum performance. Kingston also sponsored HyperX DDR3 modules which are specifically engineered and designed to meet rigorous requirements of PC enthusiasts; while Western Digital provided WD VelociRaptor 10 000 RPM SATA hard drives that provide a SATA 3 Gb/s interface and 16 MB cache to deliver performances up to 35% faster than models before. FSP sponsored Everest Pro 1200W power supplies that are equipped with a high power efficiency of over 90% for stable, reliable power.

Terence Lee, business development manager of VR-Zone - the renowned computer Web site and organiser of AOCC 2008, had this to say about the event, "VR-Zone is most excited to host this prestigious event for the second year, and sees this as a perfect opportunity for our online community to exchange and explore overclocking knowledge and skills, build relationships, and boost the popularity for overclocking globally for the future."

Benson Lin, general manager of ASUS APAC and Taiwan Sales Group commented, "ASUS is very privileged to have been chosen by AOCC for the second consecutive year as the official PC hardware sponsor for this prestigious event; and we hope that ASUS products will form an integral part of the ever expanding overclocking community worldwide."
